Millennium stamp enthusiasts may find the following information helpful in their study of Canadian millennium stamps overall.
The small printed date ["©1999"] located on the top-left corner margin of each of the 68 Millennium stamps released 15 September, 1999 shows on average (to the nearest .01mm) a measurement of 2.43mm(wide) X .63mm(high). In comparison, (using the same .01mm tolerance), the measurement of 1.73mm(wide) X .51mm (high) for each of the later reprints of these stamps, released consecutively over a four month period into March, 2000**, indicate a bench-mark continuity difference of 0.7mm(wide) by 0.12mm(high) respectively between these two group of millennium stamps.
Furthermore, the differences are significant enough for a person with an average visual acuity to notice that when the dates of two stamps are examined together, side by side, using a low powered magnifying instrument, the viewer should immediately note that the font density for each date from the same series will appear visually darker than the date from its counterpart. Secondly, the comparison will also reveal that each of the dates from the same series will appear visually taller, more so than wider on first glance, than each of the dates from a similar stamp taken from the series to which it is being compared.
Finally, careful measurements will show that the distance between the font character "©" and the next character "1" of the year "1999" for all the stamps from one series will, on average, show a marginal difference in distance by approximately 0.03mm when compared with each of the stamps drawn from the other series.
